Recruitment & Selection - Interviewing Skills Course
(2-days)
Training Objectives
To identify and develop critical skills needed for effective
recruitment interviewing.
Competencies Developed
Participants will:
- Recognise the complexities of recruitment and selection in
today’s modern environment
- Understanding the stages of recruitment and selection, and
the importance of each stage
- Apply and use a plan for selection short listing that will
dramatically save time
- Consider the concept of and know when to use testing, and
personality questionnaires and when assessment centres are
appropriate.
- Be able to write and practice using pre written questions
and the scoring system.
- Be able to use and decode behavioural body language
Methods: self–assessment, role-play, small
group work, facilitated exercises, practice presentations and feedback
to facilitate learning and assist participants to raise their confidence
and improve their communication skill level.

- Communication Skills for Recruitment
- How your individual style affects what you say and how
others answer
- Listening, understanding silence as an effective tool of
recruitment & selection
- How to listen actively and respond accordingly
- Short listing, and behaviour led interviewing
- Open/closed and probing questions
- Language – verbal & non-verbal
- Understanding ‘body language’
- How to tell when candidates are not telling the truth
- Preparation and practice, role plays & exercises
- End of day review

2 – The Selection Process
- The process of interviewing –the questioning process
- How to sell the company and be a model PR person
throughout the interview
- The techniques of conducting a professional interview –
room layout, positioning, how to structure the panel, etc
- Techniques to improve the decision making progress.
- Ensuring your interview is in accordance with the law
- The use of assessment centres
- The use of psychometrics and personality testing
- The future of recruitment & selection
- Preparation and practice, role plays & exercises
- Development of personal action plans
- Final review and evaluation
